Where do we go from here?

A picture from my balcony. Not anything fantastic, but its nice to look at.  :)

I've been doing some more thinking about my intentions in regard to this blog and I've tried to apply some of the theories that I have learned in my business classes. There are millions of active blogs out there and if I want people to engage with my content, buy my product if you will, I need to offer them something that is:

  • Unique - Why read this blog and not another? What can I offer that others can't?
  • Specialized - A shotgun affect will not work. I can't just talk about anything; appealing to everyone will appeal to no one.
I've toyed with the possibility of focusing on music talk. Or possibly on my ongoing interest in student productivity. Or maybe even a weekly rant. I love to rant.

So I'm asking all 43 of you (according to Google Analytics) what are the strengths of this blog? What are the weaknesses? What makes you want to read a post? What makes you click away and check your facebook profile instead? do you like long posts less often or short posts more often? Pictures or no?

Eventually, I would like to have my own website that would act as a brand under which I could present all of my interests, endeavors, and accomplishments. A sort of Toph Portal. But my technical abilities are a limiting factor at the moment. For now, I wan't to do this blog better.

I'd like to read about your current interests and activities -- particilarly how you are interacting with your environment. You have a great ability to observe your environment through the lens of your camera. How about your putting your observations into words that are supported by your images?

I read your blog because I am your mother. As long as you don't swear, and aren't too gross or elitist, I will read anything you write with great interest.
On the other hand. .. pictures and more pictures. And I would love to read just little short observations( jina moore in her blog Notes from Central Africa is really good at this, I learn alot and I love how her thinking wanders, and links at the same time) and to hear about any efforts you have made(sucessful or not) to get to know Australia more, Particularly the people, but perhaps info about history, landscape culture politics. Buy a newspaper at least once a week, and tell us something you have learned.
But I love hearing from you any way, even in the middle of the night!

i agree about the pictures. after reading this post i felt like a suggestion was on the tip of my tongue and then reading Anonymous Not Mom's reply took the words right out of my mouth. i would love it if you narrated your thoughts and experiences through pictures, then commented on them through shorter posts.
